Re: Skipping Thanksgiving ~ Gasp!
I was glad to hear all the positive response
because it seems like every "big" holiday they are always trying to skip our early or hinting around that they "may want to do something else", as in go to their girlfriend's family's home, so I'm hoping they will actually be somewhat relieved in a way. I figured out the cost isn't too much different (can you believe that!?) than staying home, after you ad up everything ~ so off we go I suppose

Re: Skipping Thanksgiving ~ Gasp!
Before kids we were having infertility problems for 6 years and I just couldn't do another Thanksgiving of questions so we skipped town
Little did I know our twins would be born that summer!Last year our twins were babies just home from the NICU so we had everyone come to us. It was a HUGE undertaking! This year we are pregnant with #3 and told our family far away to forget about us coming and we asked my mom who lives locally to host. I think that "B" holidays like Thanksgiving can take a beating now and then but we never mess with Christmas or Easter So I say DO IT!

Re: Skipping Thanksgiving ~ Gasp!
I can see myself doing this some day. All my kids are little so I don't cook but enjoy visiting family. However when they are grown and have other family commitments a vacation sounds more fun.

Re: Skipping Thanksgiving ~ Gasp!
I am glad you all are going to Disneyland, you may be setting a new tradition with the little ones.
I make all the fixings for Thanksgiving, I love cooking but if I had the option to skip and go to Disneyland, I'd be having my meal with Mickey and Minnnie ![]() I am 4 hours from Disneyland, I love that place and can hardly wait for dd2 to be old enough so we can go again.

Re: Skipping Thanksgiving ~ Gasp!
Well, After last night with my drunk brother and BEYOND dramatic family drama, I have declined my invitation to my sister's house for Xmas, and we booked our Disney Vacation! DH said we could pull it off as long as we be financially tight this month!
Thanks for the idea!

Re: Skipping Thanksgiving ~ Gasp!
we almost went to dl for thanksgiving...i wanted to stay at the grand californian hotel and eat at the restaurants there. we do something different pretty much every year now that we dont go to my MIL's house... the one year we went up to northern california to visit my mom, we went out and honestly, i really really missed the big dinner... but cooking this year, and my house STILL being covered in crumbs and dirty dishes...i look forward to maybe going somewhere else next year.
