Making gifts

Does anyone make their little ones Christmas/birthday gifts? I'm thinking of making my kids a few gifts for Christmas to save on money plus they love when momma makes stuff but I have no clue what to make. My girls love dolls, cooking stuff like that. So I'm working in doll cloths, diapers and things like that. But I have no clue what to make the boys. Anyone have any suggestions? They are 4 and 5. I was thinking maybe a stuffed animal since they won't sleep without a bed full but I can't think of anything else. We are doing things different this year and getting them one "big" toy together, and a few cloths. We Have a baby due in November so money is super tight this year. Any suggestions would help a ton. Yes I know I plan early lol

Crochet lightsabers. I believe there are some free patterns out there.

play costumes (i.e., fireman, policeman, etc.) - you can find free patterns on pinterest. I made a fireman costume for my son from a small woman's black shirt and kid's black sweat pants (bought the clothes at a thrift store so costume was under $10 total including all materials).

Re: Making gifts

I have made several things over the years. Dresses, skirts, dino socks, hair clippies, room decorations and more.

I am not making a lot of stuff this year for my kids Christmas because I am making other gifts and I need to make sure I have time. I am making my mom some wall art, my niece a dress and stuff for my MIL.

Re: Making gifts

I'm always making gifts for my kids. I've made my daughter a fabric doll (actually a Princess and the Pea set with little "mattresses" and a go-along book), doll diapers, doll carrier, book sling to hang on the wall because she loves to read, crown, felt cookies. I made my son a toy car holder - it has numbered pockets filled with cars and a felt road. I've made them both crayon rolls. You could make a tool belt, cape/superhero stuff, I spy bag, LEGO tray...

Re: Making gifts

For boys I saw a play tent that covers a card table. I even bought cute fabric, but never made it. Lol

Re: Making gifts

Thats a great idea! I have a card that was my grandma's and i remember when I was little my dad would use sheets to make a tent with it. I never thought to actually make a tent cover. I have a tone of scrap fabric to use and I never use the table anyways. Plus they love play tents but always tear them up so that should be perfect!

Re: Making gifts

Personally, I usually make gifts for my children by myself, kids are small and buying one-time gifts for them makes no sense. But this year, I decided to order a toy for the eldest son and a dress for my daughter with a discount. I save a lot of time and money, the children are happy and this is the most important for me.

Re: Making gifts

As it's currently very cold out, I'm reminded of knit/crocheted hats, mittens, scarves.
