What is your babies routine?

I have a 5 month old that sleeping through the night now. However, he is up until 11:30pm-12am each night.

How do I get him to go to bed earlier?
Here's his daily routine...

7:30am- Wake up and eat
9:00ish-9:45ish- Down for morning nap
Noonish-2:00/3:00ish Down for afternoon nap
6:00ish-7ish- Evening nap
11:30pm/12am- Down for the night

If we eliminate the Evening nap, he'll take the evening nap later and still wake up an hour later!

So, my question is, for those of you that can get your child down at 7-8ish and sleep through the night, what is your nap routine?

Oh, btw, my ds is 5 months, so I'm really just looking for the routines of that age range! Thanks mama's!

actually that is pretty good, if you switch his schedule to going down at 7 or 8 he will likely start waking up for a 4 am feeding...

I would cut out the last nap, so he has 2, if he seems ok with it. Then, I would put him to bed sooner. He may wake up sooner, though, to eat, but might go back to sleep after eating. Just a reminder... sleeping through the night is only 5-6 hours at that age, so he's doing great!

I don't think he would. He's only waking up b/c his sister screams across the house to let us know she's up and she ends up waking him up. He can go a while without eating.

..true..but if I eliminate that last nap, he'll just take one later..meaning he'll wake up after an hour of sleeping and be wide awake!

Yeah, I think your best option would be to eliminate the night nap and try to get him to sleep for the night around 11, then 10, then 9. Do it gradual, you don't want a screaming baby for a few nights! Either that or join the night owls chit chat thread!

Re: What is your babies routine?

My 1 year old's sleep schedule:
Wake up between 7am-8:30am
nap between 11am-2pm (2.5 hours in that time span)
Goes to bed between 8-9:30pm
wakes between 1-3 times a night to eat one ounce and go back to bed. (I tried just not feeding him, but he gets Screamin!)

and this has been consistant for the past 3mos

My girl's much older, so I can't help that way, but I suggest you check out Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child for reasonable nap schedules by age.

Re: What is your babies routine?

We're in bed at 10 every night, and she sleeps through until morning every night.

We wake up at 9am, eat, play, read, etc.

Morning nap is around 11 (30 minutes usually)

Another 30 minute nap around 2:30

Evening nap at 5 (45 minutes)

She might take another 30 minute nap at 8 or so, but most of the time we will put her in the tub at that time so she will play/splash/kick, then we read and nurse to sleep by 10. Nights that she takes the 30 min nap, we're up until 11:30, so the bath really helps keep her on schedule. She LOVES bathtime. lol.

ETA my dd will be 5 months next week (eeek!!!)

Re: What is your babies routine?

I remember my dd had a very similar schedule when she was 5 mo. She would go to bed around 12, which I was completly ok with b/c she would sleep a little later! Your routine sounds fine to me! Eventually your LO will take less naps and get to bed earlier, If I remember the night nap was the first to go so we could get her to bed early, but we did adjust the time between the other naps to space them out more

For example: if your LO takes a nap at 9am, we move it to 9:30ish and then her 12:00 nap moved to 12:30ish - etc.

That would move things up a bit, We actually had less naps so we bumped them up one hour if dd was ok with that!

I hope that makes sense, if not.. you can ignore
