how to cast on while knitting?

When you're knitting and then it says cast on so and so #.. I don't know what to search for online and I didn't see it on knittinghelp.com

D'oh I didn't read it right. The backwards loop or the cable will work.

If you need to cast on extra stitches while you're already knitting, you can use the cable cast-on or backwards loop cast-on.
