Unhappy Knitters: please help my pathetic short rows!

So I've found a set of short rows that makes sense to me but I'm obviously still doing something wrong. And I need help figuring out how to fix these. I've tried finding where I dropped a stitch but couldn't find anything. I'm getting so discouraged! I'm really ready for him to get to wear these.

Thank you so much

And the other side, looks better but is still super messed up!

You need to start doing short rows with wrap-it makes them almost invisible.
Here's the tutorial: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/advanced-techniques
Scroll about half way down the page-you can watch the video of this woman doing the short rows. That's the way I always do mine and they come out looking like this:

HTH!!!

For this project, if you don't want to frog it all, I would go back and duplicate stitch when you're done to tighten it all up.

I can't quite tell what you're doing wrong, but there's definitely something wrong. Hmm. I do find that I have to sit with the directions in front of me and do it step. by. step. or I mess it up. Make sure you're paying attention to which needle is picking up stitches from which side, and remember to knit through the back loop when you close the second gap. Also, I've started doing the YO technique on one side (the side that ends up on the baby's right hip) and the technique that you're using on the other side. Each method works better for me on one side than the other, and it's a different side for each method.

Re: Knitters: please help my pathetic short rows!

Thanks so much.

I'm wondering, I stack all my short rows (six of them) on top of one another. Should I be doing a row or two in between, and maybe not doing six? What do you do? Is how you do it different depending on which method of sr you use?

Don't stack them that is part of the problem. If you want to do multiple short rows on top of each other do a zig zag instead. You knit 5 stitches turn and purl 5 past CBM turn, knit 10 past CBM, turn and purl 10 past CBM, etc. Otherwise knit a couple rows between short rows. You probably don't need 6 either 1 zig zag and 3 short rows or 4 short rows are usually enough.

Here's a tutorial I did a while back. http://www.flickr.com/photos/2334568...57603826500230 The pictures aren't awesome, but you can tell what's going on. It's the same as the Wooly Wonder method; I just took pictures and wrote directions for every step of the process. HTH!!

I use the method you linked to too and have great results. I'm guessing it's because you did them all on top of eachother. I spread my short rows evenly across the back, so I knit 5-7 rows between each set. I do 4 sets total.
