Going on vacation?!

I am going to be 33 weeks next week while on vacation. While I have never had a baby before 38 weeks there is always a chance. I have checked out the closet hospital with delivery. It is an hour away and I have had all 3 babies in 1hour 20 minutes....trying not to think about that. Do you think there is anything else I should do? I am meeting with my midwife tomorrow.

We'll be going on a long weekend beach trip within the next month or so. I never even thought about talking to my OB about it. Will you update with what your m/w says?

Maybe have an emergency bag just in case?

Ddc...we went to our lake house (2 hours away) every weekend this summer finally stopped this pass weekend at 38 weeks.

My ob did check me at 37 weeks when we would be gone for a week there. Just to give me an idea of how far along I was incase contractions picked up.

I got the information for the nearest hospital with a maternity ward. It is 55 minutes away and my babies come in an 1 hour 20 minutes, trying not to think about that. Anyway I got a copy of my medical records to have with me. I am feeling fine about it but like to be safe.

When I was pregnant with my third, we had our annual water skiing/camping trip planned (5 hours from home) I was 38 weeks and determined to go.

I had my mw check me at my appt previous to leaving just so I would know where I stood. There was nothing going on so I chose to go. We had a home birth with her and so I packed a container of "just in case" items if something were to happen.

We put the bucket seat in the car, had clothes and diapers, etc. I figured if I came prepared nothing would happen .

We camped for a week and had a terrific vacation. Dd didn't even arrive until 3 days after her due date.

Unless you have a history of premature labor and delivery I wouldn't even worry about it at this stage. But, it's good to be prepared!
