hi, thanks for asking!!

I am physically recovering very quickly, with the help of some very effective pain medicine. I am not as torn up about this c-section like I was with my last one 2 years ago. The situations couldn't have been more different. I feel like my real recovery is going to be processing my third cesarean, the one where I labored for 5 days and pushed for 6-7 hrs all amidst doctors in a hospital where they disrespected me, pushed us to go for a cesarean the moment we walked in the door, disapproved of my wishes to labor, and then ending up with a cesarean anyway and being so affected by a horrific drug that made me hallucinate, and my recovery was turmoil, baby wouldn't nurse well and barely opened her eyes for 3 days.

This time was much different. My doctor was compassionate, understanding, did everything he could to help me VBAC and even shed a tear when he told me conditions were unfavorable to break my water to help start labor since it hadn't started on its own at 43 weeks and 1 day, (baby was too high and risk of cord prolapse was high), he did my cesarean with much concern, told me everything would be OK and rubbed my back before the surgery when the spinal was being administered, and let me hold my baby immediately after he was delivered and I got to hold him the entire time I was being sewed up and all the way back to my hospital room so I could nurse him when he was awake. It was simply amazing to have gone through such an unwanted experience with joy and peace and having my baby immediately beside me was heavenly. Of course I'm disappointed in the loss of my vbac experience, but to be handled with such respect and care from my doctor was simply incredible.

I don't even care that I drove 4 hours to see him, it was 100% worth it.

I found your post through random searches on vba3c. I was wondering what city you had your vba3c in. I am in san marcos, tx but I see an ob in Austin and she as well as the rest of Austin are not vba3c+frendly.

I'm in Seattle. Have you joined your local ICAN chapter?
