So sorry you are going through this! If you are bleeding more than a pad an hour, running a fever of greater than 100.4 or passing large clots then it's usually recommended to go to the ER. Cramping like a very bad period is not uncommon and you can usually take ibuprofen if needed. Your provider should have an after hours number that you can call if you have any concerns. Again, so sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss. You should be able to call your midwife now if you want to.

Otherwise you just stay home unless you show signs of having issues or excessive bleeding. I have never had a miscarriage so don't know all the details. I am sure someone will be able to give you more information soon.

so sorry sweetie.

With a miscarriage you go in when you think you need to. With my last miscarriage I knew it was time to come in when the bleeding wouldn't stop and I was passing clots bigger than a golf ball.

It does feel like labor when you miscarry the contractions and all

lay on the couch get some chocolate and watch something that makes you laugh.

Re: Miscarriage--Do I need to go to the ER?

First of all

Everyone has different experiences with mc's. I've had 2, my first was at 13w5d. I had no clue what to expect and went to the ER right away at the first site of blood, I was sent home. The bleeding picked up and I went back in but that really did no good either, I was sent back home and told to take motrin.

This part may be TMI but I want to share because I wish I had known what to expect.

I had to actively push to get the placenta/baby out. I also had tons of large clots. I would go to the bathroom and they would just pour out of me.

As others have said, keep an eye on your bleeding. I bled quite a bit and probably should have gone back to the ER.

Also, allow yourself to grieve.

I'm sorry you are going through

I am so very sorry! When I had my miscarriage I was so scared if what was to come. My ob called in Tylenol with codeine just in case it happened before my d&c. And it did really kick I. The night before my d&c. I was in bad pain but the meds took away all if the pain. So much so that by the time I had the d&c I had actually already passed the baby and didn't even know. I highly reccomend asking your midwife for some pain meds.

Hugs!

Cindy
