Re: Miscarriage--Do I need to go to the ER?

I decided to try the pill(s) first. My midwife is calling in the prescription. Now I just have to decide when to take it. I'm not sure yet if DH will be able to be home with me tomorrow. My mom might be able to. I'm worried about the miscarriage happening at night because DS has been waking up a lot at night lately and needing to nurse back to sleep--I don't know if I'll be able to when in a lot of pain.

For me around day 4 I started feeling a little better. Day 1 and 2 were the worst for me.

Your dd's birthday party is in 2 weeks? If the m/c happens soon, it may be a nice distraction. Physically by then you should be feeling ok.

It's in 12 days. At this point, I'm just ready to get this all over with

I'm so sorry for your pain and loss. I had a miscarriage at 19 weeks (development 15 weeks).. I had a D&C and they put me out. It is hard no matter what you choose. It sounds like you are getting good care from your midwife. And good advice from the other mommas. I just wanted to add that i was feeling physically ok only a few days after the D&C..yet all women are different im sure. The emotional part was hard. again so sorry and hugs.

Thank you. I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, I am very thankful for the advice from everyone here and from my midwife.

Re: Miscarriage--Do I need to go to the ER?

A D&C does not hurt. I was completely out for one and in conscious sedation (pain medicine + something to make you not remember) for the other. Physically I was better within a couple of days (the pain/bleeding leading up to my last one was far worse than the recovery after the D&C). Definitely have your mother home with you to watch your son, especially in case you do end up going to the hospital. As far as I know, you are fine to breastfeed once you are conscious again after the procedure. At least that is the rule I have always followed. I'm sorry you are going through this.

Thank you. I went with the pills (misoprostol) and took them around 2:30 today. So far, there is just light cramping. I take another dose tomorrow at 2:30. DH is home with me and off work tomorrow.

Thank you I'm ok. My midwife thinks it's all over from my description but I'm not so sure. It never got as painful as I read it could be or from what I remember of my miscarriage 5 years ago. And I never saw baby but I guess I could've missed it. I'm still bleeding but cramping has completely gone away. I haven't had much chance to just be sad since I've been so stresses and scared of the actual miscarriage.
