My Mood:
Is AAR pre-reading worth it or just start with level 1?

We are doing a lot of revamping of our homeschool programs and curriculum this year. One of the changes is that I am switching everybody over to All About Reading. I am just going to start at Level 1 with the three big kids because I think there are some gaps that need filled. So the question is, do I start DD (5 yrs) at the same level 1 along with the rest of the kids or do the Pre-Reading program with her first?

What does the Pre-Reading level offer that Level 1 does not? I also see that Pre-Reading doesn't use the magnetic letter tiles and I think she is going to want to do that along with the rest of the kids, so would she be missing out on something by just starting at level 1? She knows all of her upper- and lower-case letters and recognizes some sight words.
