I'm having number four, actually at my 32 week appt right now. Wonder if they will ask me? As far as BC goes I don't think I'd ever get a tubal and I would probably not make any "permanent" type decision until my youngest was at least 2. I would just let them know that you are going to use condoms and that you understand the "risk" of pregnancy associated with them. After that its really none of their business.

Re: MD already asking about BC or tubes tied?

I'm the kooky one that bluntly says, "Oh, no thanks. We'll probably end up with a basketball team. We're that family."

Re: MD already asking about BC or tubes tied?

In some states it is required by law for the provider to ask. My ob knows we want to be open and so asked at my first appt. He said I know what your answer is going to be so I want to get this out of the way now since I legally have to ask. He is awesome! I completely understand the frustration though. I always hated that question til I started seeing this dr with #3.

Re: MD already asking about BC or tubes tied?

My midwife asked me about birth control at my 32 week appt. It was just part of their checklist along with making sure we had a carseat and some other random things. I just told her that I didn't want to make any decisions now because I'm not sure I want to do anything hormonal again and even if so, I'd most likely wait til I was quite a bit post-partum. She said that made sense and went on to the next item on the list.

Re: MD already asking about BC or tubes tied?

My doctor had no intentions of bringing it up, although, she is pretty natural minded and knows I am too. I forgot at my 34 week appt :-( so I asked at my 36. We signed the paperwork because my secondary insurance requires a 30 day wait. (My primary does not) If I make it to 37 weeks, she will go over the procedure more in depth and if not, she will explain it at the hospital since I won't be able to get it until July anyway.

Re: MD already asking about BC or tubes tied?

Good for you for having kinds and enjoying it. I was asked at te hospital when I was getting a non stress test and during labor. It was the nurse that asked but it was a chain of questions. I was surprised, why that ranks so highly n importance, but it was so routinely asked that I just let it go. It did help that it wasn't my doctrine that asked, though he wouldn't because he has sevenfold his own

Congrats mama
