My Mood:
Husband woes

So we keep going through the same phases, where DH says, I trust you to do HS'ing and then he goes back and says, our kids need public school. His biggest argument is that they "should be learning for 6 hours a day" and that homeschooling stops them from interacting with "peers" for those same 6+ hours. He seems to think public school will be easier, when I can't imagine trying to get 3 kids up and to the school bus on time, let alone my fear of putting my baby on a school bus with older kids! That all sounds more stressful than waking when we're ready for the day, doing our 1-2 hours of work as we can around the rest of our schedule.

I don't know any school where the students spend 6+ hours (not even in high school!) being honestly taught and not just doing busy work. I also know that in all schools, kids get in trouble for "socializing" too much. None of his arguments make sense to me! I've read so much at this point, I don't even have the resources handy to show him.

I am a VERY laid back homeschooler and technically we aren't even hs'ing yet because DD1 is going to be 5 in April! The kid can read and is 3/4 of the way through kindergarten math. I'm not sure what more she needs to learn since she's already ahead of even the private school kids around here! She has many social opportunities, including weekly: ballet (1 hour), Chinese class (2 hours), a homeschooling group (3+ hours), plus all the rest of life! It isn't like I'm failing our daughter (or our other children in any way).

I need some good QUICK articles about homeschooling that cover socialization and the time needed to learn at home versus public school. They need to be something more professional as he will just shoot down any blogs. Thanks for the resources!
