Ebay HACKED!

This really isn't transaction related but I was hoping to get any info from any mamas here.

I woke this morning to an email from ebay thanking me for a purchase for Bitcoins for almost $250! First, I thought my 12 yo did something but then remembered he doesn't know my ebay password. Then I thought phishing scam so I checked my Ebay purchases & the last purchase was last week for a Wii item I actually bought. I checked Paypal and nothing there either. I figured it was just a phishing scam but I tried to research the name of the "buyer" the address where it was supposed to be "sent" and what the heck a stinking "bitcoin" is. I couldn't find out much so I called Ebay.

After a huge issue with verification that I am who I say I am, it was REAL! Somebody flipping bought this virtual $ and changed the shipping address of my ebay even. I feel so violated. I am not sure what the purpose of this was since I didn't pay for this.

Does anybody know what the purpose of this is? I don't know a Melanie Wright in Shreveport LA. If anybody can help me out I would be super grateful. TIA!

This happened to me last year. I ended up spending a lot of time on the phone between eBay/PayPal and my bank. I finally got the charges reversed.
I was hacked and someone used my account to sell a big ticket item that accrued 1000 in fees. It was awful. I refuse to use eBay now. But they did refund me thankfully. Pain in the butt though.

Oh wow! That is crazy. I am glad you got the situation fixed.

So far, I don't see anything showing up on paypal from this but my paypal password is way more sophisticated that my ebay password.

Thanks. As far as I can tell, MY paypal wasn't used. Just my account to buy it. That is why I am confuzzled. Why use my account to buy but not make me pay for it?

Ebay knows I didn't buy them and aren't holding me responsible (for what though?) so aside from feeling creeped out, I'm not sure what the deal really is...

No, thank goodness. I guess they must have used another person's paypal to pay for it. The "Melanie Wright" in LA is probably a stolen name & address as well. This whole thing is very freaky. I feel very violated. They changed my primary address to the LA one. So not cool.

Unregulated currency; it's becoming more popular as it's more private, government can't control or tax on them and used widely around the world. Local coffee shop in my town accepts them actually but haven't bought any BC's.
