leg cramps?

Hey mamas. So I've heard about leg cramps at night, but is it normal to get leg cramps during the day? I get them sitting in my desk chair, sitting in my recliner, and even in the car even if I haven't been sitting that long. Do I just need to get up and stretch/move more? Any other remedies?

Ugh, I wish I had better joints and better circulation as I'm already feeling the effects of the additional 11 (12?) pounds! I already have one not so great knee and a messed up hip, so the added leg cramps are somewhat annoying...

Re: leg cramps?

bananas and tonic water..... Potassium helps. They say to stretch it further when it hurts. Then eat a banana. I had them so bad I was waking up crying with my dd1 at night. That was the only pregnancy though. I try my best to eat a banana a day while prego to steer off this as much as possible. HTH

Re: leg cramps?

thanks! maybe that's why I wanted a banana with my cereal this morning. I'll pick some up as soon as I have time to get to the store.

i get leg cramps yepyep. try elevating your feet so that it is level with your heart. stretching your feet back (like your trying to touch your nose with them) also helps stretch those muscles. i mostly get my leg/foot cramps in the morning, gosh they hurt!

I haven't gotten any this time.......... yet. But I'm dreading them already.

I second the other Mamas about the bananas - they didn't help me too much but they can't hurt.

Re: leg cramps?

my bananas are on the way. I called DH and asked if he could get some on his way home from work. Maybe some cereal with a banana will be my evening snack tonight.

I always heard you neded more calcium when you had bad leg cramps. With each of my pg's I have gotten leg cramps, started taking calcium supliments and the cramps went away.

Not sure, but it worked for me 4 times. Might be worth a try.

Re: leg cramps?

I have them during the night and day sometimes. It was funny.......... the other day I was shopping with a preggo mama too and I couldn't stand on my tip toes to reach the hanger because I got a leg cramp so I made her and she got one too hahaha it was funny to see us in Spencers trying to get cramps out of our calves.
