eosinophilic esophagitis basiclly the body thinks it is allergic to about 99 percent of foods. People with this disorder usually are on an elemental fomula (neocate jr in our case) and can only eat a handfull of foods. My dd cannot digest certian foods plus she has 2 confirmed food allergies. She is only 19 pounds at 20 months which puts her in the 3rd percentile.

DS has always been in the 5th percentile and lower for weight. He has Epi Pen Jr severe food allergies to eggs & milk protein. He is also allergic to soy, but not life threatening like the others. We had to hold off on introducing solids until he was 10/11 months old. He was allergic to fruits, veggies, etc at first and would break out in hives when eating about anything. It was sad. I hope your little one gets to where she can eat/digest more foods. DS usually eats grilled chicken and potatoes. There isn't a lot he can have or that he will eat.

right now dd can eat pears, rice (whole grain only), potatoes and apples...were supposed to be trialing food but we jsut got back from grandmas house where she at cat food and broke out in hives for the first time...so were waitng about another 2 weeks before we try to intro something new.. Its the hardest when were eating out or at families house as they always want to feed her something. Were holding off on the rest of the top 8 allergens until she is at least three. She will be on the formula until at least then.

oh and her allergies arent typical...they make her intestines produce mucus which make it so she cannot absorb nuteriants, and she will spend all night vomiting and having diahreah if she has them as well, just not a very pleasent time...LOL

Re: any ftt with food allergies?

That sounds horrible! I am so sorry! Gage was raw from his milk allergy to Nutramigen. {It is 'supposed' to be "Milk Protein Free" but that is a crock}. DS's GI Specialist said they can claim that because it only has 'trace' amounts. I think if it has ANY amounts.. it HAS milk protein in it. Anyway, his mouth, around his bum, and ALL inside were damaged red/raw from the allergies. It took months on 3 meds to heal him. He kept the skin issues for awhile, but they finally went away. We have kept all of the allergens away from him until he turns 3. {He will be 3 the first of September}. I am dreading that because when we first started introducing foods to him he would get diahrrea and throwing up too. {Plus hives}. It wasn't a fun time for any of us.

I will be thinking of your little one and your family! I am sorry that she has to go through that. I feel so sorry for LOs with allergies/illnesses/etc.

I hope you find some support too!

Re: any ftt with food allergies?

Yikes I am going through that but not to that degree. My dd is 5 months old and for the first several months had foamy poos (all liquid) about every 5 minutes. My midwife thought I was crazy when I was telling her how often she was going. She also spit up/threw up constantly.

Funny thing is that she is chubby - she has 3 chins! That is our saving grace. It has taken forever to figure out what it is and we found out that wheat was a big one for her. Then she started having blood and mucous in all of her gazillion poos each day. Then we finally found out that milk played a part.

Now she has had a bad couple of weeks again and I have no idea what I ate. I'm going back to the Nutritionist to get muscle allergy testing again to see if we missed something. It has been so hard trying to change my diet and I'm worried about introducing foods to her when it's time.

My son had no problems whatsoever He has been in the 5th percentile forever for weight but he's a mover.

Good luck - It's so hard trying to figure these things out and to see your little one suffer.

Oh, and my son will be 4 in December and he just reached 30 pounds - 30.6 to be exact - I thought he would never get there!

DD was on Allimentum for a 2 months and was getting worse...its says on the cant for milk protien allergy, well the SECOND ingredeant is casien which guess what? its a MILK protien. I called the manufacture and told them how missleading they were, they were like ya we'll fix that...never happened. But how can they say that something is for babies with milk protien allergy and then have the second thing in it be milk protien??
