Toilet use when out

How do you take your kids to the potty or toilet when out? Do you bring a travel potty or have them sit directly on the toilet?

I recently picked up a Potette Plus that can be used on the toilet or on its own with a plastic bag. So far we have been using it on the toilet but it's not the best for it, and kind of gross on public toilets. For use with a plastic bag, I haven't been comfortable letting my dd just go anywhere.

I had a potty seat that folded in to fourths and would keep it in a ziplock. I would wash it when we got home if it was used on a public toilet. I stood behind someone in Disney a few weeks ago that had a regular potty seat clipped to their backpack. I thought that was NASTY. The dad almost hit my dd in the head with it.

Re: Toilet use when out

When DS first started PTing and didn't like using the big potty, I kept a Baby Bjorn potty seat in the trunk and had him go there. He wouldn't use potty rings on the big potty. We then phased it down to long car trips once he got more comfortable with the big potty. We started all that about a year ago. Now he uses the big potty with no trouble.

I have never wanted to bother with carrying a potty seat around! There was a time I kept a potty in the trunk, just in case, but never really used it. I would either hold my baby over the potty, or put him/her on it if old enough.

I don't really like carrying around a potty seat. I never thought about holding her over the toilet! She's still small enough to fall in without a ring. How old until your child was old enough to sit?

Agree with you.. nasty.

I'm doing the same with the Potette right now. It doesn't fold up as flat as yours though.
