Ford has a complimentary tether anchor installation program - Code R7C

If you call a local ford dealership and refer them to that program code, they'll be able to help you get that installed for your vehicle.

The top tether anchor retrofit part info. listings for Escorts in the LATCH manual differ depending on the body style (sedan/wagon or hatchback), but none of the body styles listed indicate any cargo anchors are usable as top tether anchors. Instead, they all list top tether anchor retrofit part numbers for retrofitting all rear seating positions. Here are the retrofit part number and notes listed in the 2013 LATCH manual for each body style of '94 model year Escorts: 1994-1996 Ford Escort sedans use Ford tether anchor retrofit part number F4KY 54613D74-A. There are 3 8mm weld nuts on the rear filler panel. Outboard-Behind-Driver-Position: Use four spacers and bolt. Access to tether anchor points, MY94-96: Cut trim panel where marked. 1991-1996 Escort 3-door or 5-door hatchbacks (the rear hatch is counted as one of the doors in addition to the actual car doors, hence the odd number of "doors" :-) ) use part number F4CZ 58613D74-A; there are 3 weld nuts on back wall. 1994-1997 Escort station wagon models have 3 weld nuts on the ceiling and use part number F7CZ 74613D74-A. Access to tether anchor points: use a flat-head screwdriver to remove trim plugs. Retrofitting is supposed to be free of charge for parts and labor in the U.S. for retrofittable, pre-factory equipped Ford models and you'll need to refer the Ford dealership to Ford Program R7C for details of Ford's free top tether anchor retrofit policy. __________________

Well, not exactly, they will act like you have three heads if you call and say that.

Instead, say something like, "I'm calling in reference to the top tether retrofit program, I understand it's Ford Program R7C? Can you check on that for me and tell me how it works?" They might have to call you back after they've looked it up, or they *might* know what you're talking about and get the ball rolling right away.
