I'm heading to a homeschool conference today.

I was not planning to go but my friend is driving up and offered to drive. It's about 1.5 hours away.

Do you go to hs conferences?

This one is very laid back and free so I usually try to go.

I have never gone to one but would love to. The ones here are kinda expensive and the drive kinda far.

I have been to one. I didn't do any of the classes, though; just walked about around the booths and talked to people. It was neat to see some options out there that I hadn't known about. I have been doing this long enough that most of the companies there I had at least heard of, even if I wasn't real familiar with them.

Re: I'm heading to a homeschool conference today.

There is a massive one held at a convention center here where there is an enormous curriculum sale. I have never been and I will never go. It just sounds completely packed and I'd rather not deal with it.

This one used to be even closer but they were really strict about no children so that aggravated me and I usually didn't go. It was held in a school gymnasium so I don't know why there were no children allowed.

A book vendor and some colleges now run it and it's abbreviated with just a few speakers. It's great for those starting out or if you just want a bit of a pick me up. It's in a nice convention center.

I went to one in another state and we were yelled at twice for our very cooperative preschooler. Once because he was playing at my feet with another boy (both quietly) and the second time because a children's performer played some lively music and my son stood up and danced at his sea (not on it) That stopped me for years.

I went to the Great Homeschool Convention last April. It was in Fort Worth. It was HUGE and I loved it. So many great speakers. There was no way to cover them all. The curric vendor floor was overwhelming but I tackled it as hard as I could. I got a lot of great ideas/curric for this school year starting up.
Before I went, I was feeling very burned out (6 yrs in) and couldn't imagine doing this another 12 years. I was even praying about sending my kids back to PS. I came home from the convention completely rejuvenated and at peace with 12 more years. I fully intend to go again next year as long as finances allow for it.
