How to find a non-religious homeschool group

I am hoping to start h/s ds next year and I would like to find a local group that isn't religious based or focused on a religious curriculum. Not that I am against that at all but I want a more secular well rounded group that is made up of many faiths and people.

Re: How to find a non-religious homeschool group

Try Facebook or Yahoo and look in your area. I used Yahoo groups when we moved to Vegas. When we lived in Vegas we were in two groups, one that was completely secular, and one that was nominally Christian. Faith didn't really play into most of what we did, but we did meet in a church, and most, if not all, of the families in it were Christian. The one group we are in here in Oklahoma is a secular group, but it is through the military base. We have a Facebook group now, but I honestly don't remember how we got connected with it.

Every place I've lived has had a secular group.

When you spot a possible homeschooler strike up a conversation. I find you can get information that way when new to an area.

Yes to this second part! I met the most awesome lady in Walmart on a weekday morning. She was a fellow military wife and homeschooler. She also had a daughter the same age as mine.

Glad you found someone. I had to learn to get out of my comfort zone but I have met some really nice homeschoolers this way.
