Re: Our first blistered rash. Few questions for you...

I'd look for food culprits too. Also, if he's teething that could contribute because it tends to change their poop acidity.

My dd got blistery rashes from milk... it took us 9 mos of creams and stuff before somebody suggested it might be cows milk, and all the sudden her rash cleared up. Poor girl does have a couple scars now though.

Anyways, seems to me it's just as likely to be food related as anything else, and if he did get blueberries, I'm betting they may've done it.

Hope the rash is on the mend soon. They're no fun to deal with.

RE: new question...

My bet is still finger nails. My ds (7 mos,) can scratch himself with his nails practically cut off, and I know when dd has milk her bum gets itchy which makes the rash all the worse...

So my bet would be that she managed to scratch herself somehow because her bum was itchy and that it was food related. 1" sounds about the right length too for a kid who is trying to scratch themselves.

Hope it goes away soon.

My DS has/had a ton of food allergies. Blueberries were awful for him - anything with blueberry in it (juice, yogurt, muffins, etc) resulted in blisters in the dipe area. I JUST started letting him have blueberry in moderation in the last few months. (he is 5).
We also used the butt paste and it works wonderfully.
