Teething and barfing?

Is throwing up a symptom of teething? My son is 3 months and, yes, is teething... but he is also throwing up a lot. He is EBF..... so it isn't a formula alergy, and I haven't changed my diet in any way that would be an instant "ah-ha" as to the problem being from my milk... He seems to throw up more after it is apparent his mouth is hurting Poor kid.

Any mamas out there to help me out? Is there ANYTHING I can do to keep him from throwing up?

Re: Teething and barfing?

Sometimes the saliva over production that kicks in at about 2months can cause more spitting up, as can the added salive and discomfort of teething. And reflux can be a problem at this age as well, as can over eating and spitting up the excess. Is it more like spit up or actual vommiting? If it is actual vomitting I would take him to see the pedi just in case. Illnesses in young infants can be very serious. If it is just spitting up you might try to ascertain if it is more caused by saliva or by over eating or reflux and go from there.

It probably is the reflux worsened by the saliva... we know he has reflux.

Thanks!

Boy I'll be happy when his reflux goes away. I feel so bad for him!

Re: Teething and barfing?

Both of my boys spit up a bunch more when teething. My 2 y.o. is getting his second year molars and will throw up from time to time with it. When it's really bad and he doesn't feel well.
