Good toys and games for a 7mo
So, I'm a first time mom and I have the luxury of being able to stay home BUT I have no idea what I should be doing with my babe. We go for walks and play with the toys we have but I kinda feel like something is missing. More specifically I feel like maybe I should be adding educational toys or games and I just have no idea what they are.

Re: Good toys and games for a 7mo
Everything that your baby does is educational to her. My boy is 11 months and have decided that everything except his toys are his toys. I have some puzzles and stacking blocks and stuff for hime but he likes things like keys and wrappers and sticks and dvd cases and things like that. everything that he can get his hands and and is safe is fair game.
Also, I did baby led weaning so he never had pureed foods. I think he has learned a lot by being able to feed himself and explore his food. Meal times take up a lot of time in our home.

Peek-a-boo is also great, along with other interactive songs. If you have a park nearby, DS loves to explore the sand and grass and different textures, swings are also fun at this age.
Anything can be used as a toy, measuring cups, cloth diapers, pillows, books. |

Re: Good toys and games for a 7mo
My DD is 6 months and I spend a lot of time on the floor playing with her. We play with her toys.. like a whole toy box full lol of kid pots and pans.... toys that sing the ABCs and colors, etc.. She loves anything that sings and lights up.
We sit on the floor and I read her books.. so many books.. I show her books about colors and shapes.. I just spend a lot of time talking to her! We go outside and feel the grass, look at flowers, etc! have fun with your LO momma!

Thanks ladies! I'm pretty much doing that already. I don't feel so bad now. I guess I just needed some affirmation that I was doing alright.

Re: Good toys and games for a 7mo
I think most new moms feel that they should be filling each moment with something educational or productive in some way but like another PP said, just being awake provides plenty of learning for a little one. I would really encourage you to enjoy the outdoors and simple pleasures like reading books, swinging at the park, etc. and not stress about what your child is and isn't doing.
