Well that was easier than I thought it'd be!

I took our exemption form up to my bank to be notarized. It was actually real simple! Filled it out there, he signed it, stamped it and I thanked him and went on my way.

Now to turn it in at the school.

Thankfully Iowa is a fairly easy state. I just have to say it's a 'sincere religious belief' they can't ask me 100 questions...just fill out the form...I'm just sure my itty bitty town hasn't dealt with it often so I'm hoping I don't get tons of guff from the school.

I just had my son's exemption form notarized yesterday, too It went smoothly, however I know the notary public. When I asked my son's school about their acceptance of the form, she was very compliant and friendly with me, so I'm assuming they have had their fair share in the past.

I didn't think to call the school. I figure it's a state form so they don't have a choice...

Awesome to hear. We homeschool so I've never had to deal with that. However, I get it in other areas. It's never fun worrying about what conflict might come up.

I only had to fill out some forms at the school for the vax's we're not doing, but I have a feeling that won't be the end of it. My DS is almost fully vax'd but there are a few I'm not doing due to his reactions in the past. Last yr the school nurse called me about 3 or 4 times about not being able to read the dates clearly enough on their copies of his records for my 4th DS, even though he had them all. I got irritated by the 3rd call, the 4th one I was pretty p*ssed! So I'm hoping the papers I filled out will be enough, but I have a feeling I'll be getting a call in the next couple months about it. I have pictures to back up my reasoning though and will have my dr write a letter if I need to.

We public school, but Iowa requires the form for homeschoolers even.

I've heard of people having 'issues' with the notary and stuff but the guy just gave me a little bit of a weird look, but I think that's because our public health dept puts the religious & medical exemptions on the same form so he wasn't for sure what I was after LOL once I told him it was for the bottom half he filled it out and that was that. *phew*
