Do you have life insurance on your kids?

As my DH and I get more financially stable, we have been thinking about the future. And one of those things is life insurance for him and I. Then in the mail today I got the Gerber Life mailer, and it got me thinking. So do you have life insurance for your kids

YES. GOD FORBID I ever have to lay my child to rest, but if it happens, I won't be forced to do something just because I can't afford what i WANT. My child will have the best that I could get them. Its not expensive and its added onto one of our policies.

Re: Do you have life insurance on your kids?

I voted other. My parents did a gerber life plan for Kearnan when he was a baby (and still keep it up) but I don't know if they did for Tharen. I really should ask. The main reason they did was in case for some reason he wouldn't be insurable as an adult he would have guaranteed insurance and also as a sort of college fund. It can be paid out as an adult. I would like to have the same for Tharen for the same reason. It doesn't seem fair for one child to have the option and not the other. Obviously it is our hope that we never have to use it until it is time for the boys to pay it out to use for college or whatever, but it is good to know it is there, just in case.

Re: Do you have life insurance on your kids?

Voted no. I don't have a policy for my son, and have no intention of getting one in the future. DH and I do have term life insurance policies for ourselves, but see no point in getting a policy for a child. They're really bad as investments and it doesn't take too long to save up an emergency fund if you're financially stable. I see relying on our savings as a much better option if we're faced with the loss of a child.

Currently we do. Unfortunately it is through COBRA from my DH's last job and it runs up in October.

I did not have insurance when my DD died, and my DH took of two weeks of work (without pay.) I recommend everyone get life insurance.

No, and I don't think they would touch my son with a 10 foot pole because he is far too risky due to medical issues.

Since there is reason to suspect that this user and CDMama12 are the same person and they have failed to repsond to pm's asking for clarification, both accounts are being banned.

Insurance is generally a poor performer when compared to that same amount of money invested elsewhere. No insurance on the kiddos.

We have insurance for our girls but we pay very little per month. I just don't want to have to think about financial issues if something happens to one of my children.

No we do not. I don't want to. We don't believe in burial anyway so we don't "need" the money.
