Re: What weird stuff have you found while helping your kids clean their rooms?
I found a fried chicken leg in the toybox once...me and hubby were both trying to remember the last time we even had fried chicken and ended up figuring the thing had to be at least 3-4 months old...even grosser, it actually looked halfway edible
![]() Anytime one of my debit or credit cards comes up missing from my wallet, I go straight to the kids toy kitchen area...they have a little cash register that they use with the kitchen and it has a pretend card swiper on the side.

Re: What weird stuff have you found while helping your kids clean their rooms?
The lid from a container of Helluva good onion dip. It had to have been empty when she took it, or I'd have noticed. It took me a while to remember how long it'd been since we'd had that in the house (I've been known to polish off the entire huge tub myself, so in the interests of maintaining what figure I have left, it's a rare treat!) Oh, and my engagement ring box. Since it has a shank on it to keep closed, she thinks it's a toy treasure chest.

Re: What weird stuff have you found while helping your kids clean their rooms?
I found a scrap of 2x4 about 1 foot long, that my at-the-time 5y/o dd had written "you are as fat as a hippo" in marker on every side.
Mommy watches her mouth and projection of body image a lot better now.

Re: What weird stuff have you found while helping your kids clean their rooms?
Petrified apples
Fossilized BBQ Buffalo Wing Half eaten sandwiches All of my cooking utensils (they like to pretend cook, happens more around the holidays) Flowers in various stages of drying Business cards scrounged from their Dad's wallet Really, anything that can be carried. My kids are just weird, they'll play with anything. I think by far the worst thing I ever found was an Easter egg. One that was old enough to stink to high heaven, but fresh enough that the inside was still soft. |

I have 6 sons; I can't even begin to list the nasty/strange things I've found. The most recent would make you
Nasty boys...

Re: What weird stuff have you found while helping your kids clean their rooms?
DD2 has just started hiding her sippy cup, my keys and my sunglasses in her toy bin.
DD1 went through the food hiding phase, I once found oreos stacked in her boots. About 2 months after DH came home from his last deployment he was packing for a field training exercise and couldn't locate any beret, soft cap, even his beanies were gone. They were in DD1's pillowcase. I guess she's heard him freaking out about being late due to misplacing his hat enough times that she figured he couldn't leave if he didn't have any! The stuff I've found that makes me wonder: every hair scrunchie and clip that I own, my cooking spoons, my recipe books, all of my bras a meat thermometer and strangest of all... the cats collars, all four of them . She did hide a ham sandwich under the seat in her grandpa's truck once, took him 3 weeks to figure out what the smell was.

Re: What weird stuff have you found while helping your kids clean their rooms?
I was cleaning out DS's closet yesterday and found an empty pack of Fig Newtons and a canteen of water. I actually had a good laugh about it because I could see Jake and Clara hiding in the closet having a "picnic" lol Then I was like...dang, that is where they went when I was craving them the other day and thought I was going crazy because I knew I bought them at the store. lol
