"Little Man"

Why does everyone have to call my 2 month old DS "little man"? He isn't a man, he is a boy. It seriously drives me batty and irritates me to the core. I really hate that phrase so intensely that I can't even put it into words! I never say anything when someone uses it because I am not sure I could do it without being rude! I can't imagine anyone calling my DD "little woman" so why is "little man" so popular these days?

Ahh, I had to vent and get that off my chest.

Sorry it bugs you. I use it all the time when referring to my 5 month old nephew. We also call our daughters "little mama" occasionally. "Papi" and "lil' mister" are also common among people we know. Just expressions commonly used, I'm sure no one means any harm.

We have always called our son little man or baby man. It makes us laugh . A reminder that he will grow to be a man.

Hahah we love that phrase here. Probably those who use it are thinking it a a cute thing to say and a compliment. Just pretend they are saying something you like...and remember your hormones are still in charge big time right now.

I say little man. I don't see anything wrong with that. I hear a lot of peeps say that. I call my baby girl "my pretty lil' woman!"

DH started calling our youngest "Little Dude" right after he was born. I love it Maybe it's because of the humor in it. A sweet little boy being a dude? It makes me smile.

I love "little man". Both my husband and I have called our two boys that a ton when they were babies. We still call our 3 year old that. Little boys just look like that to me. I don't know what to tell you though, Sorry

I always refer to baby boys, including my own, as little man. I don't know why, I just think it's cute.

Yep, I'm with everyone else! I love it and use it frequently. DS (2 months) gets called "Little Man" "Little Mister" and "Mister Man" by DH and I. Usually DD (also 2 months) is called "Little Lady" or "Little Miss"
