Sorry, I don't really see the big deal. Sorry it bugs you so much, all you can do is not call him it.

But I think "Little Man" is cute...I call the girls "Miss" or "Missy May" sometimes too.

I call my son a little man too - he just does stuff that is completely like a "little man."

I've said it a lot too. I have a bunch of nephews and everyone refers to them this way.

OP, I understand! I have a friend who refers to her dd as "lil' mama". I don't know why, but I find it really irritating! But then, that's what FIL calls me, and I have to bite my tongue every time b/c I cannot stand the name. I know he thinks it's endearing, but it's like nails on a chalkboard for me.

You would most likely come off as rude or offensive if you chose to say anything about it. It is generally used as a term of endearment. :shrug:

That is what we call DFS. His name isn't cute and doesn't have a cute meaning. His mom was cheating on her husband with the "baby daddy" and they saw Batman on their first date, so he is name L&*()% for after the Joker--Heath L#&#@% so that the Baby Daddy would know that it was his baby. We didn't like his name, and there isn't really a nickname for it, so we started calling him Little Man.

It's not just common now..its been common for a while. And I think its cute. Honestly I wouldn't let it get so you bothered..its kinda pointless to worry about.

my MIL calls DS little man, occasionally someone else will call him that...for some reason it bugs me when she does it. She's a very very sweet woman, but has these tiny tiny little things she does that get on my nerves but I can't ever really say anything because really they aren't a big deal. But I understand.

Sorry it bothers you. There are a few things that make me cringe when I hear people say them.

I cringe when I hear someone(other than my husband) refer to me as Mamma. Like with capital M...a proper noun, UGH!!! In their mind they are being friendly and acknowledging that I'm a mother, but still, you're not MY kid....or my sweety...UGH!!!
