Food Allergies

I made brownies tonight, and DH got a bag of walnuts specifically for them. It made me realize DD has NEVER had walnuts before, and most mamas on here keep an eye on their children like a hawk for reactions to basically anything that could be an allergy food. I'm not fully concerned since the only family food allergy we know of is MIL can't eat fish because of the iodine.

Got me wondering, if your kids have food allergies, does your family?

ETA: Ugh, pregnancy brain. Forgot to add "no food allergies". I need to start writing everything down before I start polls... I'm surprised I got 'other' in there

My DD1 is allergic to dairy, we have no history of food allergies. However in my immediate family many of us are the allergy 'type', i.e. hayfever, metal allergies etc. I do think I have some slight food allergies, I have noticed sometimes my lips and eyes and throat get itchy after eating some spice mixes but have never figured out exactly what it was. However, never diagnosed or even serious enough to worry about. I just remembered that my aunt is allergic to shellfish but I think that is quite different to dairy. Also DD2 has eczema which also often goes along with food allergies.

My allergist said that parental history of allergies means their children are at increased risk for ANY allergies, but not specifically the same allergies the parent has. For instance:

My allergies: latex, tree nuts, raw fruits & veggies
DH's allergies: pinapple, tomatoes
DD1: no allergies
DD2: dairy, potatoes & peas
DS: peanuts, tree nuts, garlic, eggs, wheat, oats, soy, turkey, beef, green beans, carrots, potatoes, peas, green beans

DS1: Milk allergy
DH and his family : mild lactose intolerance, general dislike of most diary
Me : intermittent lactose intolerance
My Parents and siblings: intermittent lactose intolerance
My younger brother: Mango allergy
DHs younger brother : egg allergy when a child, outgrew it

eta...I also have metal sensitivities...my wedding rings cause excema to flare up on my hand and I have never had excema before...my mom also has excema and metal sensitivities....we also have random drug allergies in the family, me sulfa and imitrix and one of my uncles is allergic to pennicilin (sp?) I also have an odd but serious allergy to something in Certs and Tictacs...causes anaphylactic shock in me...I nearly died twice because of it...

I voted other, we don't have any food allergies (that we know of!). DD1 did have a formula allergy, then didn't really drink milk until she was 16 months old. So I guess that counts but she's outgrown it.

I'm not allergic to food but I am allergic to smoke and dust.

My husband is deathly allergic to poultry (chicken, turkey, duck) our kids are, thus far, allergy free

Other, There are no known food allergies in our family, kids, parents, grandparents etc.

Ds is allergic to Oats also he has eczema
dd is allergic to : milk, soy, corn, strawberries, Cinnamon and all legumes and has eczema

Neither DH or I have any food allergies however we have seasonal allergies and DH has eczema, no other family members have food allergies
