enlighten me!

I have a friend who just found out she is preggy with baby #3 and she has never cloth diaperd. Naturally I want to get her into it as she is already asking millions of questions. I am on my 4th ds and he is the first I have ever CDed and I started when he was 5months old. I think I am overwhelming her to begin with but I really want to get her something to help her out but I do not have that much money at all. What can I get or should I get for a first time CDing mom? I have never clothed a newborn before,lol.. Thanks!

Re: enlighten me!

IMHO, pockets or AIO's are the easiest to start with.

Re: enlighten me!

I agree with pp. We started with pockets. I am now switching to fitteds and wool. There are some good package deals on pockets. They're also as easy as sposies for an intimidated dh. Especially if they get pre-stuffed.

Re: enlighten me!

If you want cost effective and dependable try getting some infant prefolds and some covers like BSWW or Proraps. Don't forget a couple Snappis. Kissaluvs are also good at holding in explosive pooh.

Re: enlighten me!

For us the BEST to start our newborn out with was KISSALUVS size 0 with a wrap cover. It was super simple (just tuck diaper under the cover) and it ALWAYS caught the explosive bf poo even on my skinny thighs, low rise, skinny waist of a 6#4oz-r when he came home.

Dh wouldn't touch the pockets until he was nearly 6wk old. We just trusted our KLs so much and got SUCH a good fit with them.

PM if you have any other questions. Ds is almost 3mo and he's been CD'd from the beginning.

Re: enlighten me!

ITA with Kissaluv 0's - I had a ton of PFs and 3 KL 0's when Isabel was born - I hated the PFs and only used KLs and sposies. Pockets and AIOS were all way too big on her at first.

There are still some KL 0's on sale at the Kissaluv Outlet Store

I so agree! I do not like pocket's or AIO's because they must be washed each and every time they are used. I only wash my covers about once a week or if they get poo on them. I used PF's, fitted's and BSWW's, although I do have other covers. Bummis are my fav., I so wish they had more print selection's.

Re: enlighten me!

for a nb, I would suggets Infant prefolds and lite wrap covers. that is about the cheapest route. I also liked kissaluv contours they lay in a cover perfectly, overnight I just put two contours together for a super absorbant solution.

im a sucker for cute prints though, so let her know its best to wait til there in meds for that because I think you get most use at that size
