Jurnee's birth story as told by her jumbled up mama.

My birth story. I suck at writing so meh!

The doctor super stripped my membranes at about 3pm on the 14th. Contractions started around 5ish but I though they were just a stomach ache! Around 9pm I knew they were real and started timing them. They were on average 10 minutes apart and only my lower groin area and my hips hurt. They were also lasting only 30-40 seconds!

We finally headed to the hospital at 3:30am. My contractions were 2 mins apart and still lasting only 30 secs. She checked me and said I was still only 4cm (same as I was at the doctor earlier that day) and at that point I decided I wanted an epi. The pressure was so intense. It felt like I was squeezing a bowling ball through my pelvis. She decided she would check me again since I was complaining of pressure and she said I was 6 (I went from 4-6 in 15 minutes).

They got me back to the room and got my epi in. I was at an 8 about an hour later and the doctor broke my water. Then I started feeling extreme intense pressure and pain! My epi wasn't working. I pressed my button twice and they also put some in with a syringe. Still felt everything!

The doctor checked me and I was at a 10. He told me to start pushing. As soon as I pushed once her head moved and all the epi meds numbed me at once and I couldn't feel a single thing at all. I asked the doc if pushing was working. He said yes, here comes her head and out she popped!! 4 pushes! ****The nurse said that her head was probably compressing a nerve (something like that) and was preventing the epi meds from getting where they need to go. As soon as she moved her head all the meds went to where thy were needed.****

As soon as she came out I grabbed her (which I normally don't do because I don't like touching gooey babies!!) and started crying. I said 'OMG, she's alive!!' (this part makes me sad, it makes me feel like I was just waiting for her to die the whole pregnancy).

The cord was wrapped around her neck twice. Doc said he never saw a cord as long as hers in his life.

Anyways, there it is. All jumble and messed up I really didn't want an epi but I'm glad I got one and the only important thing is that Jurnee is alive and well <3

doesn't sound like you need to feel bad about saying "she's alive"

sounds like you were celebrating your baby being born. after everything you went through, celebrating is important. and it's good that you found that relief. <3

congrats, she's so pretty
