Update:
4/21/11 Ladies~ The team has discussed this issue and since many of you feel strongly about the use of manilla's, and know you will be responsible if something goes mia, we will go ahead and just put this fire out now. If an item is missing/damaged from a manilla envelope we will not mediate, we will let Paypal deal with the dispute. Just know, it will be sided in the buyers favor even if the buyer is being dishonest and did get all their items. Do not use a Manilla Envelope to mail anything other than papers/documents. A Manilla envelope is not proper packaging as it is only 2 pieces of paper, and is meant for only flat items such as papers. These do rip open and contents will be lost, leaving the seller responsible for a full refund to the buyer. Protect yourself, and use usps packaging such as flat rate boxes, you can also order Polymailers online for very cheap. You may use food boxes that are sturdy to ship, be sure to line with a brown paper bag and use plenty of tape. If packaged properly, this works wonderfully. Those that choose to continue to use manilla envelopes to ship non flat items will risk losing their FSOT badge. The reason is because when items get lost, it falls back on the team to mediate the situation therefor takes time away from board work we need to get done such as FSOT applications and keeping the board running smoothly. If you receive a damaged package due to improper packaging, PM me please. Please keep this bumped so everyone sees it please.

Re: Manilla Envelopes to ship packages~ NOT Allowed
Question...does this also include bubble lined ones? That's what I've always used and they are really hard to get open and not easy to be ripped into.

I'm not a mod, but I can't see why a bubble envelope wouldn't be fine. They are very secure IME.

Re: Manilla Envelopes to ship packages~ NOT Allowed
I use manilla envelopes to ship shirts all the time. I have never in several years had one lost. I do not like to use plastic envelopes unless it's several items b/c they are not compostable, recyclable or biodegradable. I would certainly replace any missing items but it has not happened once.

Re: Manilla Envelopes to ship packages~ NOT Allowed
Oh and my post office will NOT take ANY box (other than their own boxes) that is not completely wrapped in brown paper BTW. So if you plan on using other boxes you may need brown paper too (or grocery bags). Also they specifically said NO cereal boxes or other paperboard boxes b/c they fall apart.

Re: Manilla Envelopes to ship packages~ NOT Allowed
I use manilla envelopes all the time too, because they are the only thing that they sell at a store near me and I don't sell enough to order others. I only use them if I'm shipping one diaper. I fold them in half, and tape all the way around it so there is no way it would rip. It is possible to use a manilla envelope and the item be secure, you just have to do it correctly.... but I guess I'll have to spend some extra money and order some eco mailers, becuase I don't want to get in trouble. But I would always replace/refund for packages ripped open, because IMO that falls under the sellers fault/responsibility!
