Re: Early ultrasound a week off, but sure of my dates
I don't have anything new to add, but like PPs, my OB doesn't see patients until later on in pregnancy (I want to say 8 or 10 weeks) just to keep mamas from worrying!

Re: Early ultrasound a week off, but sure of my dates
This goes to show that even though early ultrasounds are so much more accurate than later ultrasounds, they still are not 100% accurate, like doctors try to make you believe they are.

Although you know your dates, you don't know when baby implanted. By the books, it is anywhere from 5-12 DPO. That's a whole week of difference in baby's development. Early ultrasounds are pretty accurate (usually within a few days), BUT...since you can't know when baby implanted and actually started developing, then there is a margin of error. FWIW, I went in at what should have been 6W3D expecting to see a heartbeat, and there was just a sac and yolk sac. I went back at 8 weeks to a wiggly gummy bear with heartbeat.

Re: Early ultrasound a week off, but sure of my dates
Thank you all so much. Your stories and words of encouragement are really helping me deal with the wait. From what everybody has said, it seems that I really don't have anything to be worried about.
With my other pregnancies we told most people early on, but for some reason we decided to keep this one a secret from most people until we saw the heartbeat. So the wait is killing me! Hope this little one shows up on Wednesday.

Re: Early ultrasound a week off, but sure of my dates
When I was TTC I swore I knew my dates of O from charting and would time DTD accordingly.
Well after no baby for so long we went to an RE and they began monitoring my ovulation by internal ultrasound and bloodwork (which BTW is not very fun). Turns out my chart was wrong every single month by a few days ( I initially was still charting to "prove" to my doctor that it was right and I "knew" my days...um yeah, I never told him I continued to chart when it was clear that he was correct when he told me it was not as accurate as I thought and all I was doing was giving myself added stress )No to mention that conception and implantation can take a few days. There are pretty drastic anatomical differences that early in a pregnancy. You may be right or close to right for when you O'd but it may have taken longer to snuggle in and be a sticky bean than you predicted. |

Re: Early ultrasound a week off, but sure of my dates
This is so interesting... I'm now wondering if I O before I think I should? I get EWCM almost a week before I get a positive OPK, and when I found out I was pregnant this time, I was absolutely SURE our timing was way off, but obviously it wasn't. This is definitely something to think about for future pregnancies. Thanks for the info Mrs. Rusty, and I'm still super excited for you
.Kate, if you're still having prego symptoms, your baby is probably fine. I've only had one miscarry and I started feeling totally better a few days before I started miscarrying. As long as baby is alive, it's producing those hormones, so any tiredness, sore boobs, frequent peeing or morning sickness is a very good sign. Hope you get to see that heartbeat soon!

Re: Early ultrasound a week off, but sure of my dates
Thanks for all your positive stories ladies. It helped me make it through the week with some hope. Updated first post with second ultrasound results. Looks like my own story won't be as positive

Oh mama, I'm so sorry. Ugh, I hate pregnancy loss. I feel for you. Take it easy, let yourself grieve. I'm saying a prayer for you.
