Worried about having to stop working....
I am 35 weeks today, and my "plan" is to work up until I go into labor. Now I'm starting to think I may have to stop sooner than planned. I'm a massage therapist, and woke up this morning with my hands so swollen I could barely move my fingers (just a heavy, achy, stiff feeling). By my first appt. at 10 am, it was much better...from moving around, getting my circulation going. I just worry that one of these days, as it gets hotter and more humid, they will stay that way. I've already cut back on appointments, and we really can't afford for me to stop all together just yet. But without strong, healthy hands, my job doesn't quite work. I know there's not much I can do, so mostly just venting....unless anyone has any tips or suggestions for swelling?

Re: Worried about having to stop working....
Oh mama, I'm sorry.
I honestly don't know how ladies like you, in a demanding, physical job, work until the end of your pregnancy. I sit at a desk and get up to walk around when needed, so I can't relate. I would say drink lots of water and sit down, put your feet up and rest between clients. I hope other mamas who have been in a position like yours will post with more advice.

Re: Worried about having to stop working....
Thanks mama! I am miserable 90% of the time, just can't afford to quit just yet. Wish I could some days!

Oh mama I feel your pain. I am a physical therapist. I work mostly with kids and babies, but it is a very physically demanding job. (although, IMHO I don't know you how do it even not pregnant!).
I don't have real suggestions as cutting back would be my only thought. I was in the same boat with DD1. I cut back, and the plan was to work til the end. I ended up stopping at 37 weeks as i just couldn't handle the physical stress on my body in the summer heat. Good luck. Just keep telling yourself "let's make it one more week and then reassess". The end will be here very soon!
