Low blood pressure?
Anyone have issues with LOW blood pressure in pregnancy?
I know it's normally the opposite but apparently I have to be the odd duck out. ![]() The doctor says I'm fine but I feel more fatigued recently. I think that this may be to blame. Btw my numbers are 102/60

Re: Low blood pressure?
I had low blood pressure too, but my midwife was never too worried about it. It was bothersome in the beginning though - I would get really dizzy and lightheaded so I had to get up really slowly and stand there for a bit before going anywhere. I was also SUPER tired. I had low blood pressure my entire pregnancy though, and I only felt effects from it in the first trimester.

Re: Low blood pressure?
There is a point in pregnancy around...24-28 weeks? maybe? where your blood pressure can drop because your body might not have caught up with making the amount that you need. I know I have read that, but I don't remember where. Upping your water and/or nutritious food intake might help, as your body needs the materials to make the blood and fluid for the baby and uterus. Also, real salt (salt with color in it) is a good thing for everyone to switch to, and especially pregnant women.

Re: Low blood pressure?
Low blood pressure is somewhat common during pregnancy, especially the second trimester. Just be careful and sit down if you feel lightheaded, and don't stand up too fast or stay standing still for too long. Make sure not to get dehydrated or too hungry as both of those can make it worse.
102 over 60 is not terribly low in general, although it might be low for you. ETA: in case anyone is curious, WebMD classifies low blood pressure as anything less than 90 over 60.

Yes. Mine is low anyway, but it was lower during pregnancy, like 70/50 a lot.
I passed out a couple of times, b/c of it (every single time @ work, for some odd reason). |

I've been dealing with it. It varies in what it is, but I notice it's better when I stay hydrated the most.

Re: Low blood pressure?
I usually have low bp, but not extremely low. It goes up in the last few weeks but doesn't seem to affect the birthing process.

Re: Low blood pressure?
yep mine is about 100/60. I drink lots of water, sneak in salty foods! The salty foods actually really make a difference for me!!

Re: Low blood pressure?
Wow this is so informative. I do have low blood pressure, but my midwife made no further remarks than saying it was good. I just thought I was feeling dizzy and a little weak because of the first trimester. I'm seriously so tired that all I can get done is about 1 load of laundry and 1 load of dishes. In an entire day. I'm going to try eating more esp protien and drinking more water today and see how that goes.
