Ellaroo or Bali Breeze for hot humid summer?
With DS, I had only a Moby and loved it till he gained three pounds and spring became summer. At which point I wanted to set that thing on fire and dance around it's long, sweaty, stretched out fibers.
This time around I was DETERMINED to get on the babywearing train right away. I wanted something lightweight so I decided to go with the Bali Breeze. So at 38 weeks pregnant in my usual last-minute panic fashion I ordered one using the Wrapsody size chart. Then washed it 37 times trying to soften it up. It's too short! I can barely tie a kangaroo carry around my 7lb DD. I'm having it made into a ring sling. Fine. But I NEED something else. DS is three and DD is nursing all day and I can't get out of my apartment or get a thing done. So--anyway. I placed an order for a Bali Breeze with Diana of Wrap Your Baby (super nice and helpful woman!) and then put a stop on it. I wasn't nuts about the color I picked. (The too-short wrap is Iris--pretty rainbow colors but I don't want two the same and don't love the other colors.) She said an Ellaroo is the next most lightweight after the BB. I know some ladies recommend the Didymos linen but I cannot spend almost $200 or stalk FSOT for weeks. I need a workable wrap yesterday. Thoughts? I researched the BB (though, clearly not enough) but not the Ellaroo. Last edited by Clavdia_Chauchat; 06-18-2011 at 12:44 PM. |

I love my easycare for summer. It's a true woven unlike the Bali breeze and they're relatively inexpensive and super soft. Have you been on thebabywearer.com? They have a huge selection on their FSOT. If I get a chance, I'll see if I can find one. Do you need a 6 or a 7 or do you know?

BBB! Even if you're not a "great" wrapper, you can manage a breeze. Some parents, if it's not wrapped well, can get some pressure points, and you'll be able to feel it. This happens more often with older/ heavier babies. You'll get the hang of it, and they're GREAT for summer!

Just curious- Why are you all recommending a BB over an ellaroo? I'm iso a new wrap for summer and our linen didy is too cozy! But I was always told to look for an ellaroo for this.

Great Q! I'm also curious.
The woman I bought the wrap from rec'd the Ellaroo. She said it's only slightly less lightweight than the BB but more sturdy--so you can do a single layer over DB. Whereas with the BB you'd want to have more layers to hold the baby safely. She is in hot humid FL and says the Ellaroo has worked well for her in the summer.
