Obstetric Cholestasis

So I have been dealing with extreme itch that seems to be getting worse and worse. Right now it is so bad that I have itched the back of my legs raw and I can not sleep. It is currently 2 am and I can not sleep it is so bad.

My googling brought me to this http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cho...gnancy/DS01033

This sounds like what I am dealing with and I am a tad freaked. Anyone else deal with this? I am calling my doctor in the morning.

Do you have a rash, or just itch? Pupps is pretty noticeable, but if your just itching I would go in asap

Re: Obstetric Cholestasis

I am dealing with something similar. I have a rash that doesn't appear to be PUPPS (I'm only 19 wks, it didn't start on my tummy, it's not pimple-y like PUPPS looks), but Dr. Google is making me think it's "Prurigo Gestationis"... I'm going to try to wait it out til my MW appointment next week.

But, if youare just itching, with no rash, that sounds like cholestasis and that can be dangerous. Call your Dr.

Re: Obstetric Cholestasis

I had Obstetric Cholestasis with DS1 - with OC, the itching is almost always only on the soles of the feet, and palms of the hands. Your doctor can do a blood test to check your liver function, and that will let you know if it's OC or not.

If it is, you will need to be induced by 38 weeks. Mine wasn't diagnosed until almost 39 weeks, so I was induced at that point... DS1 was born perfectly healthy, and is now a healthy 4 year old .

Feel free to PM me anytime, if you have any questions!

Good luck, mama. If it is, looks like you'll be holding your LO very soon.
