baby aspirin

Ladies,

I just received my first BFP. I have been taking baby aspirin for the past 3 months. I decided to start taking it on my own as I thought it may thicken my uterine lining. I am pretty sure I had a chemical pregnancy in March so I thought the baby aspirin would be a good thing to start! So, is it safe to continue taking? If I stop taking it, will my chances of a miscarriage increase? The doctor didn't tell me to start taking it but she did prescribe me prometrium because of my low progesterone levels. Should I keep taking it or should I stop taking it? I don't want to cause any harm to the little baby by taking it and don't want to take it if I don't necessarily need it. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks in advanced!

Aspirin is a blood thinner; I don't think it would thicken your uterine lining. It can help if you have clotting disorders, but I know you're not supposed to take it in pregnancy unless prescribed by your doc/MW. I'd talk to your care provider before you continue.

And congrats!!

I agree with the PP. Baby aspen is usually only prescribed in pregnancy if you have a blood clotting disorder or have PE. I'd wait and ask your dr before continuing.

I was also taking baby aspirin while TTC to thicken my uterine lining. For those not familiar, it is thought to increase the blood flow to the ovaries and uterus. I stopped the day I got my BFP, not really for any reason other than I figured I didn't need it anymore and if there was a chance it could harm the baby, I didn't want to risk it.

Re: baby aspirin

I take baby aspirin, low dose aspirin, EVERY day and have for the past 7 years. This is the 4th pregnancy I have taken it through. That said, I did have an aortic valve replacement in 2004 with a human valve. That is why I take it. I do not have to take coumadin since I got a human valve but do have to take low dose aspirin every day. This is what my cardiologist want me to do and my OB's are fine with it. I take it right up until delivery and do not miss any days postpartum either.
