Have you tried vitacraves gummi prenatals? Its like 11 bucks for a month and a half supply. They taste like fruit snacks! Pill/capsule form vitamins make me sick bc that taste is horrible.

Correlation doesn't equal causation. I personally don't believe vitamins do much except make your stomach sick and your pee really yellow.

Though I am now sorely tempted to try these gummy vitamins!!

Well my husband just recently found my bottle that I got when I first found out I was preggo. I think he said 6 were missing. So I DID take them, lol.

Yeah, I was thinking daily-ish, too. A random miss here and there isn't a big deal but my record is a wee bit less stellar than that.

For those who are made sick by prenatals, I feel ya. They've always made me sick too. In fact, the only times I've actually thrown up during my pregnancies (which have only been a few times) have been right after taking a vitamin. I have found that if I take them right before bed, it's a bit better for me because then I'm not up and around trying to get things done.

Re: What do you consider "taking your prenatal vitamins"?

It depends on the season. While nursing/before conception, if I take them several times a week or as needed (my body gives me pretty clear signals when I need to take my vitamins), then I consider that I'm "taking" my vitamins. During my first trimester, if I can take them and keep them down at least a few times a week, then I'm doing great. Once I can consistently keep them down during the pregnancy then taking a full dose (I have the 3x a day type) daily counts as "taking" them. I guess I see it more as a spectrum and my body lets me know what I need to be doing.

BTW, I have no wish to take just any prenatal just b/c I can keep it down b/c I don't trust the quality of most vitamins. I wouldn't want to take something that has mostly synthetic vitamin A in it, for example.

I sporadically took them before I got pregnant and take them everyday now.

I take prenatal vitamins when I haven't done a good job eating the right foods. If I eat a diet rich in the daily vitamins I should have, I don't feel a need to take one. My midwife agrees, so I don't think it's all about taking a vitamin as much as getting proper nutrition.
