After seven weeks of weight gain issues, low supply, a misdiagnosis of IGT and finding a tongue and lip tie and having them repaired we are FINALLY exclusively breastfeeding!! He has gone from 50% formula and lots of bottles (some of expressed milk), to not having any bottles or formula since Tuesday when he got his lip and tongue fixed. A weight check today confirmed that he is gaining weight without the supplements! After everything we have been through it felt so good today to not need to pack bottles or formula to go out! We just packed diapers and went on our way since now he gets his milk straight from the tap lol!!

Just wanted to share my joy with other mamas who will understand!

Dr Kotlow in Albany, NY. He is awesome! He is a pediatric dentist who specializes in frenectomys!

Yay! That's awesome! I remember you posting awhile back, and was wondering how things were going! Good job for sticking it out, getting things taken care of and making it work!

Thanks mamas! It is so awesome to be able to nurse him after basically accepting that my supply would be gone by now!

That is such wonderful news! I guess you might not need that baby scale either!
Did you have to travel far to Dr. Kotlow? I saw his website. My ds has a high palate and mild lip tie but is gaining well. He has gained an average of 9 oz per week over the last 5 weeks. He had a really slow start, though. He was not yet back to birth weight until nearly 5 weeks old. I think if he had been my first instead of my third things would have been even harder. Back before ds started gaining well I was considering going to Dr Kotlow for a second opinion. It is about 3-4 hours drive for me.
