This is riddiculous: nptice from the govt re cloth
Am so offended that for the first time I'm actually going to write to them. They don't even know what they are talking about. For example, it's illegal in certain states in the US to throw out the diaper contents. It pollutes our water unless flushed.
Please take a moment to read and post any useful links if you can so I can provide references in my letter or please feel free to respond to the government yourself. http://www.ec.gc.ca/EnviroZine/defau...n&n=250EEDD7-1

Re: This is riddiculous: nptice from the govt re cloth
It sounds almost word-for-word like the "study" released by Procter&Gamble regarding sposies vs cloth. The deal is, these studies entirely omit the energy/water usage involved in producing each disposable diaper, which breaks even with the energy/water usage involved in washing a cloth diaper once. The biggest differences are the toxins exposed to our babies and released to the environment post-disposal.
Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read about the energy/water usage for sposie production stats ...

It does still list a lot of reasons to use cloth though. There were way more negatives listed for disposables than cloth.

What bugs me is they list flyshing human waste as a con. Really? Having the sewage treated is a con? Shpuld we discourage potty learning bc of it.

Re: This is riddiculous: nptice from the govt re cloth
LOLOLOL!!!! Okay ladies, you read the article, so I guess we'll have to stop doing laundry & wash our clothes in a lake/pond/stream/well, line dry everything, and scoop our poo out of toilettes and throw them in the trash. This is so ridiculous! I find it hilarious, misleading, and you're right, I am quite offended!

Mothering magazine had a great article on cloth diapering & the dangers of all the chemicals in sposies. The other info I remember is that the heat generated by sposies on little boys was not healthy for their testicles.
Sorry to country crash! I do agree on the frustration with those that use sposies & that they too should be flushing poop! |

Re: This is riddiculous: nptice from the govt re cloth
stupid article. It totally omits MOST of the pros to cloth diapering. And the air/water pollution...that's just silly. If baby weren't in a diaper and using was potty trained, where would the poo go? in the toilet...where the dumped contents of cloth diapers go...silly silly
