Nursing while pg... latch issues
I am 17 weeks pg with #2 and have planned to keep nursing DS as long as he wants to keep going. I'm pretty sure he's not getting anything at this point and as a result has gotten lazy with his latch and it is killing me! I try to unlatch him and start again, but the only time he's latching properly is when he's half asleep. Any suggestions or advice? I don't want to force him to wean, but I don't know how much more my poor nipples can take!

Re: Nursing while pg... latch issues
Oh, the memories. I had that experience, too. Either because of hormones or lazy latch, I found my DD's latch often quite unbearable. I read about positioning her so that she had to look up to latch on (while we were sidelying), and then I would tell her to stick out her tongue and not use her teeth. We did a lot of unlatching and trying again.

Re: Nursing while pg... latch issues
I had the same problem when pregnant and nursing. It was pretty awful. I found out it wasn't his latch just the hormones that made my nips so sore, and sometime I just had to end the nursing session. It was painful to nurse him until the day I gave birth to my daughter. Then it was painfree. The positive was I never had any pain or uncomfortableness with my new baby.
