This is ds in an origami fold receiving blanket. He's 4 months and almost 13lbs. Actually, it's the first flat I've ever folded, so I was pretty proud! Unfortunately he was only in it for about 5 minutes before he had an explosive ebf poop! It did leak out the legs a bit but nothing got on his clothes (just the cover) so I'm going to call that a success! Now I'm trying to decide if I want to invest in some flats, I really love how trim it was compared to a prefold.

How do you like the Boingo's? I've thought about purchasing a few for new babe. Well really using new baby as an excuse to purchase them for SOlomon.

Re: 2012 Flats picture thread..

Ok bikini twist demo:

Large Diaper Rite flat nice and wrinkled out of the dryer.

I fold it over the wide way but these flats are so big I might have been able to do the narrow long way. You will have to experiment.

Then I fold up for the rise.

This is the trickiest part to explain. Now just take the top layer that you folded up and fold it in so it makes a triangle. Like fold the top corners in to make points.

Lay baby on diaper. The triangle point can be either a little below their bum or you can lay them right on it.

Now just treat as a normal bikini twist

Bring up between baby's legs spread out and secure (this flat is big for this baby doll)

Here is a bad pic on my 33 month old. She hates to wear anything but padfolded flats in Flips or Fleece covers. If I was doing this again I would make the rise a little higher which would make it less ruffly at the top.

Hope that helps!

Re: 2012 Flats picture thread..

I have never had a boy so I don't know how it would work on a boy. The twist has a few benefits.

Lots of material in the middle, less bulk between the legs when you do it right. ( this picture isn't the greatest example)

Super tight legs and great poo containment for us.

And under wool soakers, take the third leg of the snappi and hide it under the twist. that way it doesn't snag the wool.

I don't know if that would work for boys either. It was my favorite fold while we were in flats snappied on.

No doubler needed for us because of the extra material twisted. For naps I would lay a preemie pf right on dd and then do the twist over the preemie pf. Harder to use a doubler with this fold I think.

I just thought of another benefit to a doubler for flats... Poo cleaning! You can just clean the doubler and not the whole flat.. YUCK>
