baby hardly ever naps during day, what to do
I'm not even sure this is where to ask this. If u EBF and nurse to sleep how do u ever get anything else done. If I go lay baby down she will sleep maybe 3-5 min. or not at all. Like just now I went and layed her down she started crying and now she is sleeping in my lap, while I type one-handed. She is 9mo we have survived this long. Sometimes she will nap for an hour but its very rare. Usually after the 5 min if I have to do something, she will be ok to just play on the blanket on the floor.

Re: baby hardly ever naps during day, what to do
my 7 month still nurses to sleep, he's in my lap right now! lol He always has. We had the same problem but when he was much younger. The only way I was able to lay him down and he actually stay asleep for more than 5 minutes was to swaddle him, he just stopped the swaddle at 6.5 months. I don't know if your lo would let you try that or not since your lo is older. The only other thing I can think of at the moment is to "snuggle' your baby when you lay her down. Put a blanket or small pillow on either side of her so she still feels kinda like she's being held. Have you tried wearing her?

Re: baby hardly ever naps during day, what to do
DD was the same way. So, I would lay down with her and we both would sleep or at least I could lay down and relax (maybe do some reading with her nestled beside me.) As far as getting anything done around the house, that is still a struggle. Usually I have to wait for DH to get home and keep her occupied to get much done. Also, I have my grandma come over one morning a week for a few hours and play with her so that I can get the essential cleaning done (bathrooms, floors, etc.) If you have someone that could come over and do the same for you, I would highly recommend asking them, it has seriously changed my life and lowered my stress level.

Definitely wear your LO. This is the only way I got anything done EVER for the first three months of DD's life!

Re: baby hardly ever naps during day, what to do
I have held both of my babies for every nap until at least 6 mos. Slings are a life saver. But really, if your baby is resting, perhaps you can rest too?

Re: baby hardly ever naps during day, what to do
I nurse my lo to sleep 80% of the time - either in my arms or go lay down in bed with her. She went through a phase of boycotting naps at 4 months - now at nearly 6 months and she naps great (2-3 times per day, ~1 hour each, longer if I'm lucky).
She loves bed-time, always has - we've stuck with the same routine since 1-2 months (warm bath, pj's, lay in bed/arms, I read to her while she nurses. Lately she just comes off the nip and rolls over like she's 'tapping out' saying "I'm done, goodnight". During the day I wear her in a MT or Moby wrap to get things done around the house. Some days things don't get finished, but that's because she is my priority - vacuuming can wait another day .

I had a crabby tired baby on my hands until I made him nap in his bed, I hate CIO methods but this was a little gentler, I would feed in a dim room and lay him down when he was done nursing, if he would fuss, try to comfort in the bed and if not pick up and rock to sleep, then Kay down and keep repeating, the first time it took almost an hour to get him down for 20 minutes then eventually less time to get him down and longer naps, he is happy and so am I.

Yup this. He's in my lap right now. When he was teeny he napped in his wraps alomst exclusively.

Re: baby hardly ever naps during day, what to do
I would highly suggest investing in a few carriers and using them often!
