Milk blister issue, help!
A little back story: I have ebf my 6 month old DD from day 1. We've never had any issues, and she's always had a very good latch. I got a milk blister earlier this week because my DD decided to nurse to sleep one day. I soaked it in warm water and put some olive oil on it before she nursed a few times and it seemed to be getting better. Today I noticed it looks kinda pus filled and it really really hurts. I also noticed there is a vein like thing coming from my nipple to my breast on my areola. It looks like if you had a vein on your arm that was really showing. It is somewhat hard. Is it a blocked duct? I'm just super worried I'm going to get mastitis. Which I definitely do not want. What can I do to prevent mastitis? and what can I do to get rid of the blocked duct (if it is one)?

Re: Milk blister issue, help!
I had great luck getting the clog out with an epsom salt bath. It looked silly, but I dissolved some epsom salt in warm water in a bowl, set it on a chair, and leaned over it to submerge my boob. The epsom salt really helps dissolve the clog and soon I had chunky milk coming out (that then dissolved even more in the bowl). It was silly, weird, kind of cool, and felt sooooooo good. Then I was able to massage by breast and get even more of the clog out.

Re: Milk blister issue, help!
Do the epsom salt soak or take a really hot bath and put warm compresses on your breast. You will be able to tell when the clog loosens up and it will all come out.

You can also sterilize a needle and poke it, i found that worked best for me. I think there's some more suggestions on kellymom. Good luck on getting rid of it!
