Baby shower

My LO is 8 weeks old today. I have a baby shower this weekend and I am in a dilemma. I've been back to work since she was 6 weeks old. I pump at work and she gets breastmilk by bottle at day care. I make a point to nurse her on the weekend and dont do bottles on the weekend since so many of her feedings during the week are by bottle. If I don't bring her to the shower I will only be able to stay for 3 hours before I have to go home and pump or nurse her (depending on when my husband feeds her... She eats every 1.5-2 hours). Or, I could bring her with so that I am able to nurse her. Any input? I'm just not sure what to do. I don't want to be rude but I also want to keep my LO close- she's still so little!

I am pretty sure they would love to have a baby there.

And they would also be very understandable if you have to leave early

That's what I thought. My friend seems hesitant to let her come which has me perplexed especially since she is about to be a FTM like me in about 2 months. I've always has babies at every shower I've ever had and never thought it strange.

I travel in a circle where it is expected that a nursing baby will ALWAYS accompany a mama. Heck, even a bottle fed infant... So, this really perplexes me.

In fact, around here, unless an invitation is for an event KNOWN to be adult only, or unless otherwise specified, any invitation is assumed to include the family.

I'd go with better to ask forgiveness than permission. Don't mention it again and just bring her.

A baby shower where a baby isn't welcom?!? That seems odd to me.

I don't think it is rude at all to bring her I was the same way with my DD... I HAD to be away from her doing the week and I never wanted to be away from her when I didn't have to be. I still bring my 2 year old all sorts of places that most people might not. I would think that everyone would love a little squishy baby at a baby shower.

That's weird! I've never heard of a baby not being welcome. I have heard of people (in just one instance, actually) not wanting older kids there) but usually there are toddlers and children too. How close are you? Are you throwing the shower or just a guest? If you are throwing the shower, I guess I could see that maybe she's worried about the spotlight thing?? Some people are very weird about that kind of thing. If you are a guest, I'd bring her and not think anything else about it. If you are throwing the shower, I would ask DH to be "on call" in case she cries the whole time or something crazy like that. Good luck and have fun!!!
