![]() It never ceases to amaze me the things people say to pregnant women. Don't let them get you. Congrats to you! I'm wishing you a great and healthy pregnancy and baby.

The risks of various issues do go up as you get into your 40s, but the overwhelming likelihood absent other risk factors is that you will have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. At least in my experience I think a lot of people out there have magic ages (usually 30, 35, or 40) that serve as cutoffs past which women should not be having babies.

Maybe my perception is skewed but it seems to me that now that MORE women are having babies later people seem to think its SOOO dangerous instead of gradually becoming accustomed to it as a new norm.
My sister was born when my mom was 42 and I don't remember anyone having nearly the heart attack about it that they seem to now. Who knows? Pregnancy makes nonpregnant people way more crazy than pregnant people. Sent from my Galaxy Skyrocket using DS Forum

I say as long as you are healthy (my mom was not at 41) then don't listen to stupid comments! People have children much older then 41. Some ppl should just learn to keep a foot in the mouth!

I'm so sorry! People just do not know when to keep their mouths shut! Your doctor/mw is the only person who has to right to truly express those kind of concers to you.
Super duper congratulations to you!!

Re: I swear it's not THAT dangerous.
This always make me mad. The ONLY correct response to "I'm pregnant" is "Congratulations". Period. If the woman (couple) is sad/mad/worried about the pregnancy, they will let you know and then you can follow their lead. Otherwise, keep you crappy comments to yourself. Ugh.
Sorry these people our getting to you.

Re: I swear it's not THAT dangerous.
I am having my 6th in a few months and I am 41 1/2
. Had my older 4 under age 28 and my 5th at 39 1/2....neither OBs nor midwives mentioned anything about my age, except my OB said I should consider the GD test bc of my age and # of pregnancies. Thats it. And no has said anything to me, like strangers or friends. I think I don't have a pleasant face, it's more like a don't f with me face, lol
