I read some anecdotes suggesting that beginning to leak breast milk during pregnancy was an indicator that breastfeeding was likely to go well. Any truth to this?

I've never actually caught it. I just keep noticing stains on my pajamas in the mornings.

But it's progressed so far from dime-sized to quarter-sized spots.

Yeah, that's normal. Some women will leak small amounts while pregnant. I think *most* women make enough milk for their babies anyways, so I'm sure you will too.

I don't really think it's an indicator of anything. With both my pregnancies I started leaking at around 15-16 weeks. This late I now leak enough that I have to wear breastpads around the clock or have spots on my clothes. With my first, I had nothing but problems for weeks once she got here and eventually had to give up due to blinding pain after only a few weeks. I do think I could have continued had I had a decent amount of support, but I didn't.

I do believe that regardless most women with the right support and encouragement can successfully breastfeed, I just don't think that leaking early or even often during pregnancy has much to do with it.

I only leaked once, but BF'ing didn't go well for us. It took a full 10 weeks for us to get into a groove, but since then BF'ing has been awesome.

I haven't leaked at all, I never did with DS either. However after DS was born and my milk came in, it was plentiful to the point that I could lean over the sink and it would run out some.
