Another DDC! Maybe this has already been suggested since I didn't real all the replies, but if I were in your shoes, I would suggest to the hostesses that it be either a children's book shower or freezer meal shower for food after baby arrives. You may not need anything for baby, but who doesn't love more books, or ready made food post partum?

Re: Would you permit the throwing of a second baby shower?
I love the idea of a freezer meal shower! Otherwise I would just suggest a "meet the baby" get together.

Re: Would you permit the throwing of a second baby shower?
do it.
freezer meal shower sounds great. or a pampering mama shower. I'm preggo with #3 and I hope someone does it for me. Food and pedicures sound perfect! |

Re: Would you permit the throwing of a second baby shower?
I think there should be a party to celebrate EVERY life, not just the first one you create.
I wish someone would throw a shower for this baby to celebrate his/her life. I don't want THINGS, I just want to celebrate. How is that tacky? I don't want you to buy me THINGS -- I just want you to come and celebrate this beautiful brand new life I've created. As for a meet the baby get-together --- not for this December Mama. That screams germ fest to me

Re: Would you permit the throwing of a second baby shower?
I wouldn't mind another shower, especially if this one is a boy. Either way, we could use some newborn winter clothes as DD was an April baby, as well as toiletries. But I'm certainly not going to push for one. I've been part of a group that in the past did throw showers for subsequent babies but usually called them "diapers and wipes" showers. Since I plan on going cloth, that probably wouldn't work for me. I probably will do a small registry just to give people an idea of what we do need.

Re: Would you permit the throwing of a second baby shower?
DDC-
and This is our first boy and last baby. DH has an older DD from a previous marriage and we have a DD that is almost 4. So we have A LOT of girl items and not the first little boy thing. The last boy to be born in the family on his side was 26 years ago and on my side it was 22 years ago. So its been a very very long time. I say if you are having a baby that is an opposite gender from your first then yes that would be good for odds and ends. I wouldn't make a list of things you need just make it to celebrate a new one and whatever people would like to give to the baby as a gift is fine. Nothing extravagant.

I had a sprinkle for #3. We didn't need anything, so people got me a lot of the fun, cutesy stuff you just don't buy for yourself :-)

My boys are 7 years apart and since I saved everything, I didnt have a second shower. I wish I decided CD before he was born and had a CD shower. That would have been fun.
