Toddler Cutlery
Our 18mo DD is really enjoying self feeding with utensils. I have the Gerber ones with the rubbery handle and stainless tines/bowl. The handle is great but the part for her to eat from is HUGE. SHe can barely fit the spoon in her mouth. Do any of you have any suggestions? She insists on having a fork or spoon so hopefully we can find something.

Re: Toddler Cutlery
We have always used regular cutlery. Just use teaspoons?

Re: Toddler Cutlery
We just use the teaspoon/salad fork from our regualr cutlery set for our kids but I know Oneida makes very small pieces. I think you might be able to find something from www.michaelolaf.com or maybe www.forsmallhands.com. These are websites that sell Montessori style materials and have lots of real items in small child sizes.

Re: Toddler Cutlery
Yeah, idk if she just has a tiny mouth or what
You know when they start learning how to feed themselves it is like a moving target? Well she is great at getting it to her mouth but then it is just so darn big.

I use the, plastic ones that can be washed or thrown away when they are learning, then when they are good with it, I have a set from ikea that has actual teaspoons and forks the same size. They they are the perfect size for my now 4 year old, and he has been using them since about two.

Re: Toddler Cutlery
I have a wonderful set from ikea but I think it's discontinued.
It's similar to the 3 piece sets here: http://www.oneida.com/fine-flatware/...-flatware.html Most of the time I just give them a dessert fork but our knives really are too big to hold. |

Re: Toddler Cutlery
We bought a set of tea set cutlery from ikea, in the kids section. They are stainless steel and are todler sized.
