Beaverton is good place to start they have great schools and a great community. It's only 10 minutes from Portland. Or if you want to be closer to the coast but still close to Portland there's Forest Grove. You'll love the rural areas in Oregon it's a very pretty state.

We live in Medford too. I love living in the rogue valley. Everything is close by, so even though we aren't in Ashland it's really just a quick trip to get there. We are surrounded by a multitude of beautiful outdoors area and never lack for such activities.
